The Stables Café

During the summer of 2008, the former stables near Sandfield Bridge were transformed into The Stables Café by Carla Mason and Mitch Workman. This page features the refurbishment work and the opening. The former stables were in the right hand part of the building with the bridge keeper's house to the left.
 

The former hay loft had been little used for many years and the downstairs had been a store.
 

By June 2008, refurbishment work was well advanced with new roof beams, doors and windows.
  

In July 2008, a timber structure was erected to provide an upper patio with a fine view.
 

The café opened on 10 September, and the upper and lower patios were soon much appreciated. 

The café now serves a range of light meals seven days a week. (More details)
