Sand for RMC 1982

In July 1982, the sand dredger Sand Gull, owned by a subsidiary of Ready Mixed Concrete Ltd, brought a cargo of Bristol Channel sand for the Company's Plant at Two Mile Bend. The dredger left Sharpness at 5am and reached Monk Meadow Quay at 9.30am. The sand was discharged by a grab crane to a pile on the quay and later taken by lorry to the Plant as required. The shipment was arranged by Area Manager Colin Dymott, who also took these photos on the passage up the canal.
